What Should I Wear For Primary Recruitment?

Welcome Rounds: September 4-5, 2024

Primary Recruitment starts off with two days of Welcome Rounds. During these rounds, you will be meeting each of the 10 Panhellenic chapters at Ball State. This is an opportunity to discuss what is means to be a part of a Panhellenic organization at Ball State Sorority. You should expect to talk about yourself, get to know other members, and learn about each of the chapters.

What to wear:

This is the most casual round. You should prioritize comfort while looking and feeling your best. Chapters will be wearing their designated t-shirts and jeans. You will be given a t-shirt which you can wear during these rounds, if you choose to do so. You will be standing during these rounds, so wear comfy shoes.

Involvement Rounds: September 6, 2024

In this second round of recuitment, you will be visiting a maximum of 8 chapters. During these rounds, you will discuss what you were involved in during high school and college, and what you hope to be involved in on Ball States Campus. Chapter members will share with you what they’re involved with on campus and what you could get involved with in joining their chapter.

What to wear:

This round is a step above casual. This could include something you would wear to a brunch, baby/bridal shower, or maybe something you wore for senior photos. Chapters will mostly be wearing dresses, skirts and blouses, and jumpsuits. You will be standing during rounds, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Philanthropy Rounds: September 7, 2024

These rounds give you the ability to learn about how each chapter gives back to the Muncie community and the community as a whole. Chapters will present their local and national philanthropic events with you. You will be visiting a maximum of 5 chapters this day and should expect to discuss deeper topics. Members will share about the values they hold close, and want to hear more about your passions.

What to wear:

This round is business attire. This is something you would wear to a job interview or an awards banquet. Chapters will be wearing nice dresses, jumpsuits, or business pants. You will be spending more time in each room, so it is important that your outfit is comfortable.

Preference Rounds: September 8, 2024 (Morning)

This is the last round of recruitment and you will be visiting a maximum of 2 chapters. These are the longest rounds and you will be able to spend more time with chapters members, learning about their connection to the chapter. During this time you can ask how being in a Panhellenic sorority has impacted their life and time on Ball State’s campus and what they have gained from being a part of the Panhellenic community.

What to wear:

This round is the most formal. An example of an outfit would be something you would wear to a wedding or a fancy dinner. Chapters will be wearing dresses, occasionally formal jumpsuits, and formal shoes. These rounds are the longest, but you will be sitting for most of the rounds. This day, you may be advised to bring a comfortable shoe with you to change into between rounds.

Bid Day: September 8, 2024 (Evening)

The final part of Primary Recruitment is Bid Day! This is when you will come home! You will have some time after Preference Rounds to recharge before meeting your recruitment group to find out which final chapter has extended you a bid. More information will be given during recruitment.

What to wear:

You will be given a t-shirt from the sorority that extended you a bid. You will want to wear something you can easily change out of or don’t mind layering the shirt on top of. Many choose to wear jeans, jean shorts, skirts/skorts, leggings, etc.
